Applying to AirNav Ireland in Ireland?
AirNav Ireland is the commercial semi-state company that provides air traffic management in Irish-controlled airspace, with air traffic control towers at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports and an en-route centre at Ballycasey, Co. Clare. It took over the air navigation functions of the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) in May 2023; the IAA is now Ireland's aviation regulator.
Free official FEAST practice
EUROCONTROL offers free official FEAST practice for candidates at feast-training.eurocontrol.int — we recommend using it alongside any other preparation. Open EUROCONTROL's practice platform ↗
EUROCONTROL's published list of FEAST users names the IAA in Dublin rather than AirNav Ireland by name — the IAA's air navigation functions moved to AirNav Ireland in May 2023. AirNav Ireland's selection page doesn't name FEAST, but its application form asks whether you have sat the First European Air Traffic Controller Selection Test (FEAST) part 1 or 2 in Ireland or another European country in the past two years. Its computer-based aptitude tests assess areas including numerical, verbal and deductive logical thinking; multitasking; English listening, language and comprehension; planning ability; memory; alertness in simple and multitasking situations; and visualisation and spatial orientation. Check the current AirNav Ireland notice for the tests you'll sit.
AirNav Ireland's selection process for its Student Controller Programme includes screening of applications against the minimum entry requirements (which may include an online assessment), computer-based aptitude tests (online or in person), a screening interview on Microsoft Teams, an assessment centre with simulator-based exercises at its training centre in Ballycasey, Co. Clare, and a final competency-based interview if required. AirNav Ireland reserves the right to change the selection process, including adding or removing stages, so check the current AirNav Ireland notice before you apply. In December 2025 AirNav Ireland said it plans to train up to 64 student air traffic controllers in 2026.
FEAST I: cognitive ability tests (such as decision-making, planning, memory, logical reasoning, visual perception, attention, multitasking and spatial orientation) plus an English listening and comprehension test (ELICIT), taking roughly 2.5 to 4 hours depending on which tests the organisation uses. FEAST II: one or two work-sample simulations (FEAST RADAR, formerly DART, and FEAST MULTI-PASS), about 1.5 to 2 hours each, needing no ATC knowledge. FEAST III: an optional personality questionnaire (FPQ).
ATC Practice has original timed practice tests for the kinds of abilities FEAST I assesses — spatial, numerical and logical reasoning, attention, memory and a dual-task exercise — with explanations. They aren't the real FEAST tests, which EUROCONTROL keeps confidential, and EUROCONTROL recommends its own free practice platform over commercial products like ours.

AirNav Ireland — common questions
Does AirNav Ireland use FEAST?
EUROCONTROL's published list of FEAST users names the IAA in Dublin rather than AirNav Ireland by name. AirNav Ireland's selection page doesn't name FEAST, but its application form asks whether you have sat the First European Air Traffic Controller Selection Test (FEAST) part 1 or 2 in Ireland or another European country in the past two years. It doesn't say which tests make up its own aptitude battery, so check the current AirNav Ireland notice.
When can I apply to AirNav Ireland?
AirNav Ireland accepts applications to its Student Controller Programme at any time and contacts applicants when its next selection process begins. Its FAQ says it currently runs up to two selection processes a year. In December 2025 AirNav Ireland said it plans to train up to 64 student air traffic controllers in 2026.
Does AirNav Ireland send practice material?
AirNav Ireland says no test materials are provided to candidates during selection. EUROCONTROL's free official FEAST practice is at feast-training.eurocontrol.int, and our original practice tests cover many of the same ability areas — they aren't AirNav Ireland's tests.
Can I reapply if I'm not successful?
AirNav Ireland's FAQ says you can apply for the selection process on two occasions if you're not successful. Check the current AirNav Ireland notice for how this applies to you.
Can I retake FEAST if I don't pass?
EUROCONTROL advises taking FEAST only once; any retake policy is set by the organisation you apply to. Check AirNav Ireland's own rules before you apply.
About the FEAST test
What does the FEAST test measure?
FEAST I: cognitive ability tests (such as decision-making, planning, memory, logical reasoning, visual perception, attention, multitasking and spatial orientation) plus an English listening and comprehension test (ELICIT), taking roughly 2.5 to 4 hours depending on which tests the organisation uses. EUROCONTROL doesn't publish the names of the individual tests.
How long is the FEAST test?
FEAST I takes roughly 2.5 to 4 hours, depending on which tests the organisation uses. FEAST II: one or two work-sample simulations (FEAST RADAR, formerly DART, and FEAST MULTI-PASS), about 1.5 to 2 hours each, needing no ATC knowledge.
What score do I need to pass FEAST?
Each organisation chooses which FEAST tests it uses and sets its own pass threshold. EUROCONTROL says that in most cases an average result is enough. EUROCONTROL advises taking FEAST only once; any retake policy is set by the organisation you apply to.
What tests does ATC Practice include?
Original timed practice tests including Spatial Reasoning (40 questions, 20 min), Numerical Reasoning (40 questions, 20 min), Logical Reasoning (40 questions, 20 min), NDB Direction (24 questions) and Switch, a dual-task exercise — practice for the kinds of abilities assessed, not the real FEAST tests. EUROCONTROL's free official practice is at feast-training.eurocontrol.int.
